Hey! I’m a female singer in my 30s, London-based, looking for an existing band making original music that needs a vocalist.
I’ve been in a few projects over the years, from 60s-influenced bands through to electronic stuff, so I’m pretty open-minded about genre. I’m much more interested in clicking with the people and genuinely loving the music than finding something that fits neatly into a particular box.
My tastes sit somewhere around Broadcast, Stereolab, Portishead, Saint Etienne, Massive Attack, Cocteau Twins, Goldfrapp, Air and Mazzy Star – that world where 60s influences, alternative pop and electronic music collide. I’ve also been told my voice has a bit of a Harriet Wheeler/The Sundays quality – bright, clear and melodic, and it records really nicely.
I love the ideas and arrangement side too – melodies, harmonies, structures and production ideas – rather than just turning up to sing a finished part. Equally, I’d love to join a band that already has its own identity and find where I naturally fit. I don't need it to be my band; I want it to feel like our band.
Ideally, I’d love a cool, friendly bunch roughly around my age who already play together and have their own material. I take making good music seriously, but want to have a laugh and actually like the people I’m doing it with too.
Happy to rehearse, write, record and gig. Despite several bands, loads of recording and even having a record out on vinyl, I’ve somehow never played a proper live gig – something I’m very ready to change!
